Born Lita Lucille Thornton in Tacoma, WA, grew up an "Army Brat" and was move to Africa, Germany, West Virginia and finally settled in New York in 1072.  Along with soul mate, Bruce, she has raised four beautiful and artistic children.

Lita's roots run deep in the Appalachian Mountains.  She feels that her five generations of family Coal Miners and her grandparent's American Indian heritage greatly influence her creativity and her love of nature and color.  Kinship with the Earth pulses in Lita's heart, runs in her blood and informs her bright and powerful paintings.

Lita wears more hats then most.  As if being a daughter, mother, wife, Moma to her granddaughter Rei and entrepreneur weren't enough, she always finds time for her beloved painting groups and friends.  Serving as president of Artists in the Parks, volunteering with the Wallkill River School and painting the towns with The Group of Nine is a full-time passion.

For Lita there is more to capture on canvas then a lifetime of painting can accomplish, so along with Bruce and many dear friends, you will find her painting en Plein Air.
