Bruce always knew painting was in his heart.  Born in Brooklyn and raised in Suffern, NY it was in his senior year, as Suffern High School, he realized his love for oil painting was so overwhelming he chose to pass by a career in graphic arts so that he could make art for himself.  When Bruce paints, he breaks all the rules and his paintings explode with energy and vision.

Bruce Eschews contemporary trends.  He refuses to limit his palette, choosing instead to paint with whatever colors are right for the day, that scene.  He often foregoes a traditional brush, choosing instead to use a plaette knife.  Sometimes he applies paint directly from the tube.

In the tradition of the Impressionists, (he cites VanGogh and Monet as amoung his influences) Thorne's paints speak in dots and dashes of light and shadow that make up the code of his vision.

Bruce was in high school when he met Lita, also a painter.  They fell in love, stayed in love and built a life that let them raise their four artist children, run their family business and paint together.  Bruce is on a mission to paint and paint more.
